Tous is the one of the most important historical sites in Iran. It is the birthplace of Ferdowsi, the most famous Iranian poet, and the centre of events in his historical and mythical book "Book of the Kings". The project focuses on the protection and revival of the historical area of Tous and its buffer zones, , and represents a significant cultural tourism initiative. It highlights the importance of preserving historical and cultural heritage while adapting it for contemporary use. This project is part of the city of Tous, the subject of an earlier studies approved in 2020.

Design of a Master Plan for the "city" of Tous

Studies and preparation of the Master plan for the "city" of Tous, covering an area of over 3400 hectares, were assigned to this consultant in August 2019. Among the main policies of the plan are preserving a significant portion of agricultural lands, along with organizing orchards and settlements with rural backgrounds, as well as developing a conservation-oriented approach in line with community participation to achieve the plan's goals. Studies and the detailed plan for the separate area of Tous, covering 3400 hectares, were completed by this consultant.

The city of Tous, covering an area of approximately 3390 hectares, is located in the north-west outskirts of Mashhad city and is considered as part of  Mashhad Municipality's Zone 12.

Studies and preparation of the strategic plan for the Tous area have been carried out with an emphasis on its high historical-cultural tourism appeal, focusing on Ferdowsi and Shahnameh. This complex is considered one of the most important historical-cultural tourism projects in Iran. The special strategic plan was approved in December 2018 in Mashad, and 0 by the Supreme Council of Urban Planning and Architecture of Iran in July 2020
